Släkte i familjer [[Lamiaceae]]. Namnet Leonurus är en sammanslagning av grekiskans leon som betyder lejon och oura som betyder svans.

Växterna är medicinalväxter, främst gällande effekter på hjärtat. Vissa arter omnämns även ha psykoaktiva effekter.

Man trodde tidigare att alkaloiden leonurin ensam var ansvarig för effekterna för åtminstone arten [[Leonurus sibiricus]], men det är nu mer troligt att en åtminstone en del av effekten kommer från [[diterpener]]na leosibiricin, leosiberin och isoleosiberin. Möjligen är detta även fallet för andra arter:
