Generell information

Dårörten tillhör släktet Dårörter, som ingår i familjen Potatisväxter.

Det är en 20-60 cm hög flerårig ört och blommor i april-juni med små klockformade blommor. Den har sitt ursprung i centrala och östra Europa och förekommer förvildad på ett fåtal platser i Sverige och odlas ibland som prydnadsväxt i trädgårdar.

Chromatographic analyses indicated that only the plantlets roots and the rhizogen calluses were able to biosynthesized just tropine and atropine. The total amount of tropanic alkaloids that accumulated in the plantlets roots was 0.11 - 0.13% of the dry weight, while in the calluses that grew large roots (over 2 cm length), it was 0.08% of the dry weight.

The alkaloid composition of the rhizomes of Scopolia carniolica Jacq. has been investigated and the identification of six alkaloids is reported. Three of these alkaloids have been reported previously and are confirmed in this report. Moreover, the authors report here for the first time the presence of 3--tigloyloxytropane in the genus Scopolia; in addition, pseudotropine and cuscohygrine are reported in this plant for the first time. One other alkaloid could not be identified at this time.

The dry rhizomes of scopolia contain 0.3 - 0.8% tropane alkaloids. L-hyoscyamine is the main compound, together with small amounts of L-scopolamine and atropine (racemic mixture of hyoscyamine) and atroscine (racemic mixture of scopolamine). Leaves contain hyoscyamine, scopolamine, cuscohygrine and 3α-tigloyloxytropane (up to 0.5% (total alkaloids).

Odling

Dårört är en utpräglad lundväxt och trivs i fuktig jord i halvskuggiga till skuggiga lägen. Den kan förökas genom delning av jordstammarna.
